Daggerslashes were Deepwoods creatures which resembled dead pieces of wood and attracted travelers with false cries of distress. When a creature stepped on them, they used their forty rows of sharp claws to grip them like a beartrap. However, because daggerslashes were carrion-eaters, they never ate or even injured their prey further. Rather, they gripped onto them until they died before beginning their feast.[1]
