Mother Feathergizzard was a roost-mother of the shrykes when they were nomadic, before the Eastern Roost was established. She was leathery, golden-eyed, and old. She agreed to build the section of the Great Mire Road that ran through the Twilight Woods for Vox Verlix and Amberfuce, and in return she was paid a high price, in gold and in kind, and given the right to tax that part of the road.
