Reed-Eels were dangerous creatures found in the Deepwoods. They resembled a patch of reeds, thin and green, but were actually predatory animals, with small yellow eyes and a cluster of suckers, laid out like the heads on a bouquet of flowers, which were used to suck blood. Inside the suckers were venomous fangs, capable of killing the Reed-Eel's hapless victim within seconds.
Role in the Twig trilogy
Twig, Cowlquape, and Spooler wandered into a bed of Reed-Eels during the events of Midnight Over Sanctaphrax. Their Prowlgrins panicked, broke free of their tethers, and ran away, but the three of them didn't realize anything was wrong until the Reed-Eels attacked. Twig and Cowlquape escaped unharmed, but Spooler was killed.
